When I was a kid, we stayed in a low-cost flat in Kuala Lumpur.

At that time, we don’t have much. My dad is a minibus driver. He worked long hours, sometimes more than 12 hours a day.

So, we have this low-cost flat, and I still remember my father received a letter from a law firm — the letter asking for money to do a specific process with the low-cost house. We barely understand the meaning, but we know it has something to do with the house.

The letter was asking us to pay about RM400++, and I still remember my dad’s expression — worried about money. It’s huge money for us.

Even though we’re not sure what’s going on but we have a policy of never ignored a letter from a lawyer. After a few weeks, my dad paid for the RM400++. Not sure how he gets the money, I think he borrows from his employer.

A couple of months later, we received another letter from the lawyer asking for another RM400++. Again, and this time my dad feels frustrated.

My dad and I went to the law firm and asking for an explanation. After being brief by the lawyer, we understood it. We’re not happy, but we now understand.

So, later that week, dad’s paid the fees. Not sure how he gets the money, but I believe it has something to do with his more than 12 hours of shift work.

My first encounter with Perfection of Transfer & Perfection Of Charge

The lawyer explained the money is for The Perfection of Transfer (POT) and The Perfection of Charge (POC). And that’s my friend, is the first time I encounter POT & POC.

It’s funny how I still remember it until today. Maybe the expression of my dad registers in my brain forever — how our parents sacrificed so much to bring us up.

If you bought a master title property eventually, you would need to do The Perfection of Transfer (POT) and The Perfection of Charge (POC).

If you want to understand more about The Perfection of Transfer (POT) and The Perfection of Charge (POC), I wrote an article about this yesterday. Go and check it out!
